OCP Secretariat : Expulsion of Christians & other Minorities from Iraq is a serious threat to humanity & the culture of religious co-existence

Global: The Secretariat of the Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society stated that the expulsion of Christians and other minority religious groups is a serious threat to the very existence of humanity itself. Today it is Iraq and tomorrow it shall be any place in the world. The rights of Christians and other minorities are violated.

The serious human rights violation committed by ISIS and other armed gangs have already resulted in the disintegration of the great culture of religious co-existence in the Middle East. The area has a great and long-standing tradition of religious tolerance which is now under question.

In some counties, the media does not even report such incidents, because it does not fall under their interest. The global media sector should take it as their responsibility to educate people about genocide committed in Iraq. It should be the responsibility of all nations to help people in Iraq, despite their political interest in the area.

The minorities in any country should feel safe with full rights to practice their faith and worship. It is the responsibility of the ruling class to make sure that the minorities are safeguarded and are provided with better living conditions.

The Secretariat members also requested continues prayers for all those who are suffering in a different part of the world with war, sickness, and calamities.
