India/Kerala/Thiruvanathapuram:  The Chief Minister of Kerla State Honorable Shri Oommen Chandy  and  speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly honorable G. Karthikeyan received Interparliamentary Assembly On Orthodoxy  (I.A.O.) delegates from Greece and Russia. A grand reception was given by the Chief Minister’s office. They also paid a visit to the Assembly Hall in the capital city. 

The I.A.O. delegation  is on a working visit to Kerala in cooperation with the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church and made several discussions on democratic and parliamentary affairs. The delegation commented that Indian system of democracy is a role model to the world. In reply Chief Minster and Speaker recalled the long lasting fraternal relations between India and Russia and the cultural exchanges between Greece and India.

The delegation was guided by Fr Dr K M George (Indian Orthodox Theologian) and Honorable Joseph M Puthusserry (Parliamentarian). The delegation also visited various Orthodox Churches in the state and took part in the funeral ceremony of the late Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Dydimos I. They also visited the headquarters of the Indian Orthodox Churches and various other places of importance.
