Grand Public Reception held for Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II at Kottayam – the City of Letters

Kottayam: A grand public reception was held for His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II – Patriarch of Antioch and All East and Primate of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church at Kottayam (City of Letters) on Sunday 8th February 2015. Several dignitaries including Shri Oomen Chandy – the Kerala Chief Minister and other leading personalities form different walks of life took part in the event.

2015 Candles were lit in order to commemorate millions of Syriac Orthodox faithful who were killed during the Ottoman genocide in Turkey during the first world war.
