Aythala church becomes the first Syriac Orthodox Temple in India to be consecrate by Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

India/Kerala: St. Kuriakose Church Aythala was consecrated by His Holiness Moran Ignatius APhrem II. It became the first Syriac Orthodox Church in India to be consecrate by the Patriarch. The Church belongs to the Autonomous Knanaya Archdiocese of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate. The consecration was held last day after completing the recent renovation works.

St. Kuriakose Church Aythala was established on March 4th 1905 by a group of Knanaya Christians who were residing at Aythala had been the members of Ranni St. Thomas Valiya Palli, which was established in the year 1742 A D. Aythala Church is the first and only church established in the name of St Kuriakose in the Knanaya arch diocese .
