Ethiopian Orthodox Christians Celebrate Meskel Feast

Addis Ababa: The Ethiopian Orthodox Christians celebrated the great and holy feast of the finding of true cross at Meskel Square in the Captial City of Addis Ababa. The holy event was blessed by His Holiness Abune Mathias – Patriarch of Ethiopia in the divine presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II- Patriarch on the See of St. Mark the Evangelist. Archbishops, clergy from Coptic and Ethiopian churches, Sunday school students along with thousands of faithful participated in the colourful event.

His Excellency Dr Mulatu Teshome Wirtu- Honorable President of Ethiopia, His Excellency Diriba Kuma – the Honorable Mayor of the Addis Ababa City were special invitees for the ceremony. Pope Tawadros II extended his apostolic blessings to the Ethiopian faithful. Patriarch Abune Mathais  congratulated his children on the great feast of Mesekel.
