Catholicos of All Armenians Received Representatives of Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso of Madrid

On July 5 in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the professors, students and parents from the Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso of Madrid. The group from the Catholic Seminary was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Shnorhk Sarkisyan, spiritual pastor of Madrid.

At the beginning of the meeting, Father Shnorhk informed His Holiness that the purpose of the visit by the Dámaso seminary representatives, was to visit the homeland of St. Gregory the Illuminator, and receive the blessings of the Catholicos of All Armenians.

His Holiness conveyed his blessings and appreciation to the guests and highlighted the importance of the visit by faithful brothers, through which mutual recognition becomes stronger, and the brotherly ties between nations is reinforced.

The Catholicos of All Armenians spoke about the existing warm relations between the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches, recalling with satisfaction the Divine Liturgy offered by His Holiness Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Basilica of Rome on April 12, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

His Holiness noted the existence of deep respect and visible evidence of fruitful cooperation, through which many Armenian priests continue their spiritual education in various Catholic universities. On this occasion, His Holiness invited the Catholic Seminary students of Madrid to Armenia, to study Classical Armenian (grabar) and become acquainted with the mission of the Armenian Church.
