Archbishops of Cyprus and Greece Attend Conference on ‘National Polygenesis 1821-2021’ in Nicosia

Nicosia-Cyprus: Archbishop Ieronymos of Greece and Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus took part in a conference on the National Polygenesis on the 12th of June 2021. The conference was held as a part of the celebrations for the consecration of the New Cathedral of Nicosia.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, the Minister of Education of Cyprus, bishops of the Church of Greece and Cyprus as well as the Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher in Cyprus and other guests.

Metropolitan George of Paphos made a presentation on “The timeless contribution of the Church to the Nation” and the Historian Petros Papapoliviou, an associate professor at the University of Cyprus made a presentation on “The contribution of the Cypriot Hellenism in the Revolution of 1821 and in the liberation struggles of the Nation”.

Archbishop Ieronymos of Greece decorated Archbishop Chrysostomos with the first-ever silver medal with the icons of the revolution of 1821 and in return, the Primate of the Church of Greece was presented with an icon of Apostle Barnabas.
