A memorial complex inaugurated in Cocieri

Moldovan Orthodox Church

On Satturday, 06 August, an outstanding memorial complex was inaugurated in the village of Cocieri, Dubasari raion, honouring the memory of the heroes who fell in mission, performing their duty in the transdniestrian conflict. Two decades have passed since that armed conflict escalated.

Top state administration, war veterans, military and clergymen were present at the inauguration ceremony.

The memorial complex was unveiled and blessed. Archpr. Vadim Cheibas, the Metropolitan secretary, present at the ceremony, said: “Such complexes educate the coming generations, keeping vivid memories of the tragic events of our country’s history. We are glad that these events contain Christian elements, as they also deliver a religious message. The complex represents several crucifixes and a bell, arising not only our memories, but also calling us to pray for those who gave their lives for the peace of the rest of the people”.

Fr. Iulian Pinteac, rector of the Miracle of St. Archangel Michael parish of this area, said: “This memorial monument is placed near the holy place. During the year, the Holy Church has chartered days of commemoration of heroes. We will celebrate panichidas at this memorial complex, for the eternal repose of those who fell in mission”.
