On July 30, 2012, United States assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon visited the holy monastery and theological school of Halki.
In conversation with Metropolitan Elpidophoros of Bursa, Mr. Gordon expressed the interest of the United States in the seminary’s re-opening. Furthermore, he conveyed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s warm greetings toward His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
