Ukrainian Orthodox Faithful Protest Against the Visit Ecumenical Patriarch by Holding Posters of Metropolitan Onufriy
OCP News Service – 21/8/21
Kyiv – Ukraine: The faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) expressed their dissatisfaction against the visit of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople by holding posters of Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The believers have conveyed a clear message to the Patriarch of Constantinople that they do not support the tomos issued as part of the creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) and they only consider Metropolitan Onufriy as their Primate. The protesters displayed dozens of coloured posters with portraits of Metropolitan Onufriy in three languages - Greek, English and Ukrainian.
Meanwhile, Patriarch Bartholomew has arrived in Ukraine and he was welcomed by the hierarchy of OCU. The Primate of the Church of Constantinople also met President Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine.
