Kyiv- Ukraine: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I urged believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) for peaceful coexistence in the country, reports UOJ. The Patriarch assured that any doubts on the validity of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) remain baseless during the long sermon served at the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv on the 22nd of August 2021.

The Patriarch stated “As a mother church, we are always ready to listen to problems, dispel doubts, soothe anxiety, heal injuries of all our children with the grace of God, but within the framework of a consecrated church tradition. We firmly believe that the mercy of our Savior Jesus Christ will forever extend generously over all of us, and we will rejoice in the tangible fruits of the Holy Spirit.”

Meanwhile, the believers of the Ukrinain Orthodox Church staged a protest in front of Verkhovna Rada on the occasion of the visit of Patriarch Bartholomew.
