Transfiguration of the Lord in Trebinje

The Transfuguration of the Lord, the Patron Saint’s Day of the Cathedral Church and the city of Trebinje also this year was solemnly celebrated. On the Eve of the feast day a holiday joy could be felt in the city which was full of guests, who came on this occasion from many parts of the country and abroad. On the very same evening the vesper service was served with holy bread tray, which was served by His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina with priests and guests.

On the feast day the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina with the concelebration of vicar Bishop Jovan (Culibrk) and priests of our and other Dioceses of the SOC. The Liturgy was also attended by representatives of the state authority, president of the government of RS Mr. Aleksandar Dzombic with ministers from the Government, the mayor of Trebinje Dr Dobroslav Cuk with associates.

After the reading of Holy Gospel His Grace Vicar Bishop Jovan addressed the faithful people. A great number of the faithful, especially children, partook of the Holy Communion. After cutting the slava cake and blessing the grapes an interesting program was prepared as well as the solemn table of love.

In the evening of the feast day a solemn procession went through streets of Trebinje in which Their Graces Bishops participated: Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Teodosije of Lipljan, Atanasije, newly-elected Jovan and the host Grigorije with more than fifty priests and monks from our brotherly dioceses. In the procession also participated Mr. Milorad Dodik, President of the RS, Mr Aleksandar Dzombic, Prime MInister of the RS with ministers, Belgrade’s mayor Mr. Dragan Djilas, Emir Kusturica, Dejan Bodiroga, Branislav Lecic, Dragan Bjelogrlic, Ivan Tasovac and many other friends.
