Thousands Attend ‘Sofia Pride 2021’ Amid Protest from the Orthodox Church

Sofia-Bulgaria: Thousands of people attended the Sofia Pride Concert and parade that was held in the Bulgarian City capital centre on the 12th of June 2021. Tight security measures were taken to ensure the safety of the participants. Sofia globe reported that ambassadors of several counties published video messages in support of the Pride concert.
The Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in a statement urged great concerns over the Pride concert and parade. A press release from the Synod stated that “We call for this act, which demonstrates spiritual and physical dependence on sin, not to be allowed to take place. Let us protect the hearts of adolescents and the youngest among us from temptation.
Sofia Pride, organised by the LGBT community and their supporters take place every year in June in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia since 2008.
