Moscow-Russia: In a recent interview with Olga Lipich of RIA Novosti, Metropolitan Hilarion, the chairman of the Department of the External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate commented on the accusations against the Russian Orthodox Church.

In the interview, Metropolitan Hilarion stated “We are quite satisfied with our place in the diptychs. Our official position regarding primacy in the Orthodox Church is set out in a document adopted by the Holy Synod in 2007, and anyone can familiarize themselves with it. Before the forced severance of communion with Constantinople, we also recognized the primacy of the See of Constantinople in honour, in accordance with the wording of the rules of the Ecumenical Councils. There is not a single official document of the Russian Church, not a single official statement, not a single speech by the patriarch, which would declare that Moscow is the Third Rome”.
