With the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, on November 12, 2009, the Romanian Patriarchate offered for free to the Ukrainian authorities, through the Ukrainian Embassy in Bucharest, 20,000 medical face masks for the prevention of flu infections. The medical masks are in accordance with the European quality standards, and are meant for the distribution mainly to the inhabitants of the Cernauti area. The help of the Romanian Patriarchate is aimed to ease the acute lack of protection masks affecting Ukraine following the development and expansion of a flu infection site in Ukraine.
