Bucharest -Romania: His Beatitude Daniel, the Patriarch of Romania, celebrates the 13th anniversary of enthronement on 30th September 2020.
Metropolitan Daniel was the head of Moldova and Bukovina Metropolis before his election to the Patriarchal throne. He was elected on the 12th of September 2007, to govern the Romanian Orthodox Church. The Prelate was installed as the Patriarch of the Romanian Church on the 30th September 2007.

Since his enthroned, Patriarch Daniel has been at the forefront of revolutionising the administrative structure, social and philanthropic outreach of the Romanian Church.
Well known for his intellectual and diplomatic skills, Patriarch Daniel has been credited with the founding of a sheer number of ecclesiastical, educational and social institutions and projects. Moreover, through his compelling vision provided an altered face to Church charity and social outreach in Romania. Under the leadership of Patriarch Daniel, the Romanian Church has turned out to be a haven for the poor and the needy. Over the past thirteen years, the Romanian Church has turned out to be one of the largest providers of social assistance in the region.

In the words of George Alexander (Secretary of the Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE, Society), “Patriarch Daniel has emphasised the importance of charity and social care concerning the Church Traditions, Liturgy and Gospel preaching. The most crucial aspect is the fact that Patriarch Daniel practises charity from his ecclesiastical pocket which is a matter of primary inspiration for others. He is indeed the Patriarch of Mercy.”
