The Jubilee Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was Held
On 8 July at the Refectory chamber of the Church of theVenerable Anthony and Theodosius of the Kyiv Caves of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Jubilee Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held.
The work started with prayer, after which His Beatitude said a welcoming speech to participants of the Council.
Then the Credential committee of the Council was elected. Administrator of the UOC Archbishop Metrophanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav read the greeting messages to participants of the Synod by Patriarch Kirill and President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
The Chairman of the Credential committee made public the statistical data on the quorum at the Council.
Further work continued according to t the agenda, and Metropolitan Volodymyr made a speech.
Thereafter administrator of the UOC Archbishop Metrophanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav, on behalf of the participants of the Council, thanked His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr for the labors on governance of the UOC undertaken.
Then Metropolitan Volodymyr on behalf of the Council welcomed some bishops on their anniversaries and handed them awards of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church:
Archbishop of Vinnytsia and Mohyliov-Podilskyy, on the 15th anniversary of episcopal consecration was conferred on the Order of The Holy Hierarch Theodosius of Chernigov;
Archbishop Ephraim of Krivyy Rih and Nikopol, on the occasion of 45th birthday anniversary was conferred on the Order of the Holy and Right-Believing Prince Yaroslav the Wise;
Archbishop Philip of Poltava and Myrhorod, on the occasion of 55th birthday anniversary was conferred the Order of the Holy and Right-Believing Prince Yaroslav the Wise;
Archbishop Varfolomiy of Rivne and Ostroh on the occasion of 20th anniversary of episcopal consecration was conferred on the Order of the Holy Hierarch Theodosius of Chernigov;
Archbishop Serhiyof Ternopil and Kremenets, on the occasion of 20th anniversary of episcopal consecration – the Order of the Holy Hierarch Peter Mohyla.
Upon completion of the Council His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr addressed the audience again and called them to be always in love and mutual understanding.
Statistical data on quorum:
Total number of those present – 228 participants.
Among them: bishops – 66, married clergy – 47, monastics – 67, laity – 49.
Absent – 4.
