Council of Bishops of the UOC is Over
On July 8, at the Refectory hall of the Church of Sts Anthony and Theodoius of the Kyiv Caves of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Caves Monastery under the chairmanship of His Beatitude metropolitan Volodymyr the Bishop’s Council began its work with participation of the bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The session was opened by the introductory word of the primate of the UOC, following which the administrator of the UOC, Archbishop Metrophanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav read the agenda.
The Council considered the questions of the Statute on governance of the UOC and resolved to set up a permanent commission led by Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol for consideration of all the proposals which came on this subject and were expressed in the course of the Council of Bishops.
The Council also considered the question of the Supreme Council of the UOC. It was decided to change the name of this structure into the Coordination Council of the UOC. This body, as the Council suggested, has to function as a preconciliar body to the Primate of the UOC and to coordinate the activity of the Synodal Departments. Besides, the Council confirmed the decision on creation of the new dioceses of the UOC, in particular the Diocese of Dzhankoi, Uman, Dniprodzerzhynsk.
