THE FEAST OF PALESTINE SAINTS AT THE JERUSALEM PATRIARCHATE

THE FEAST OF PALESTINE SAINTS AT THE JERUSALEM PATRIARCHATE

The Jerusalem Patriarchate – July 2016

On Sunday, the 20th of June/3rd of July 2016, the Patriarchate observed the memory of the saints who had lived and died in Palestine, namely saints of the Old and New Testament, Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles, Martyrs, Confessors, Preachers, Evangelists, both eponymous and anonymous. The feast has been set for the Sunday following All-Saints Sunday.

Upon the Patriarchate’s request, the ever-memorable hymnographer of Mount Athos, Gerasimos Mikragiannitis, had composed a special procession for the feast. Divine Liturgy was held at the Church of the Resurrection, led by the Most Reverend Joachim, former Metropolitan of Zambia, who had as concelebrants Archimandrite Kallistos and Presbyter Nikitas. Archimandrite Aristovoulos sang for a congregation of Jerusalemites and pilgrims from Greece.
