Olga Nikolaevna traveled with two cossack guards during her escape from Russia. She arrived to Vladivostok with her loyal maid Januska. Upon her arrival she met the German officers that were commanded by Kaiser Wilhelm to take her to a safe place. In November of 1918, while in Shanghai they learned about the defeat of Germany, the abdication of the Kaiser and his trip to The Netherlands. Months later she went to visit him, accompanied by her friend and guardian Baroness Elisaveth von Schaevenbach.
Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanova, eldest daughter of their Majesties Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna, was taken to Vladivostok and from there she went to Lvov, Poland. After some time she was taken to Germany. Baroness Elisaveth von Schaevenbach was in charge of taking care and protecting Olga, at the special request of Kaiser Wilhelm II. At the beginning of WWII she moved to Italy.
