The Bulgarian Government to Fund Restoration of Orthodox Churches and Monasteries

Sofia-Bulgaria: The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has approved BGN 2.5 million for repairs and restoration of various church buildings and monasteries of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The Sofia Metropolitan Church, St. John the Baptist Monastery in Zhablyano, St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called Church in Sofia, St. Stephens Church in South Park and St. Annunciation” in Druzhba are some of the Churches and monasteries that will benefit from the funding program.

“A great day (Christmas) is approaching and during the pandemic, and financial crisis, people’s trust in God is extremely important. We will make sure that during Christmas, people with their families, can go to church, to light a candle, to honour this extremely bright day. This is our goal” commented Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

His Eminence Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik expressed special gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support.
