Warsaw – Poland: The annual meeting of superiors and representatives of monks and nuns of all ten religious units of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church was held on the 2nd September 2021 in in Zaleszany. The conference was chaired by Metropolitan-Primate Sawa of Warsaw and Poland. Archbishop of Bielsko Grzegorz of Hajnów, and Bishop Andrzej of Suprasl were present for the conference.

The Monk as a Confessor of Faith was the major theme of the monastic conference. The role and meaning of monastic life in the salvation of the human soul by nun Barbara from the monastery of St. Martha and Mary to St. Góra Grabarce, on “Martyrdom as the highest form of professing love for Christ” by nun Natalia from the Nativity of the Mother of God monastery in Zwierki, on “Upbringing young people in the spirit of love for monasticism” by Igumen Pantelejmon from the Annunciation of Theotokos monastery in Supraśl. A duet on “Missionary and educational activity of monasteries” was presented by Igumenia Agnia from the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Wojnowo and the hieromonk Porfiriusz from the monastery of St. Dmitri in Sakach.

At the end of the conference, the monks and nuns gathered in Zaleszan and the below declaration was made:

“We, the monks and nuns of the monasteries of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, together with our superiors, gathered under the leadership of His Beatitude Most Blessed Sawa, the Orthodox Metropolitan of Warsaw and all of Poland at the St. The great martyr Catherine in Zaleszany at our annual conference on monastic life and the current situation resulting from the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic, send prayer greetings to the faithful of our Church with the assurance of constant prayers for the faithful, the Church, the Motherland and the whole world. We ask the Triune God for peace for the modern world and for the unity of the Church. God bless us”.
