Turkey: The one-time Liturgical service at the Akdamar Armenian Orthodox Church (Cathedral) of Holy Cross was held on the 6th of September 2021. Bishop Tatul Anusyan, the secretary-general of the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey lead the service together with other priests. A limited number of faithful attended the liturgy. Mehmet Emin Bilmez, the Governor of Van and other officials also participated in the service.

The Church was reopened in 2010 (after a gap of 95 years) as a secular museum.. Ever since an annual liturgical service has been permitted by the Turkish authorities. Completed in 921, this Church has been listed in the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage properties.
