14-year old Darius Movileanu is the first and only athlete in Europe to win the Table Tennis World Cadet Championship. Besides being a successful athlete, Darius is close to the Church.

“I have been singing in the church choir since I was very young. I’ve always liked coming to church and chant,” Darius told Pro TV.

His father is a priest in Târgovişte, and his mother and two older brothers also graduated from the Faculty of Theology.

His sports career is due to his father, an amateur table tennis champion. He inspired Darius to play sports.

“The first time I started playing table tennis with my father, who took me to the gym, when I was seven and a half, and put the paddle in my hand. I started playing with him a bit, and he told me that I should go to a coach to discover my talent,” Darius Movileanu declared for Digisport.

The year 2020 was atypical for everyone, but for Darius it was exceptional. The athlete ended the year with 7 medals won at the Romanian Cup, including 5 gold medals, a silver and a bronze medal.

In 2019 he won the gold medal at the European Championship and at the Polish Open, he obtained the first place at the Top 10 Europe, but also the highest performance of his career, the title of Cadet World Champion.
