Damascus-Syria: The Holy Synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church will consider two calendar options to celebrate Easter due to repeated requests from the faithful. Accordingly the Synod will consider two proposals (1) adopting the rectified (Gregorian) calendar in all liturgical celebrations for the Syriac Church (2) the Syriac faithful in the West to celebrate according to the rectified Gregorian calendar whereas the Syriac faithful in the East will continue to celebrate it according to the Julian calendar.

A report on the proposals will be submitted to the next session of the Synod.
