Solemn Session Of The Holy Synod Dedicated To The Homage Year Of The Orthodox Creed Of The Romanian Autocephaly

On 28 October 2010, the solemn session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was held in “Patriarch Teoctist” Aula Magna of the Patriarchal Palace. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople and hierarchs of our Church, members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church participated in the session.

The members of the delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and of the Church of Greece, of the Standing meeting of the Church National Council and of the Standing Meeting of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, teaching staff, archpriests, priests, monks, theological students and seminarians attended the event.

There followed the speech of His Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, dedicated to the Year of the Orthodox Creed and of the Romanian Autocephaly.

After the lecture of the Ecumenical Patriarch, His Grace Ciprian Campineanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch and Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, presented the “Synthesis Report entitled “2010 – Year of the Orthodox Creed and of the Romanian Autocephaly” from a religious-spiritual, cultural-educational and media point of view in the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate.

All the participants in this solemn session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church have also watched the film entitled “Blessing For The People. The Romanian Patriarchate – History – Organization – Mission” presented by Trinitas TV station.

After watching the film made by Trinitas TV, Mr. Academician Emilian Popescu presented the book entitled “Titles and Honourable Distinctions the Patriarchate of Constantinople Awarded the Metropolitans of Wallachia (14th – 16th centuries)”.

Further on, His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch presented the trilogy entitled Autocephaly: vol. I – Autocephaly, Freedom and Dignity; vol. II – Autocephaly and Responsibility; vol. III- Autocephaly and Communion. The Romanian Orthodox Church in Dialogue and External Cooperation (1885 – 2010).

To end with the solemn session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church the Greek protopsalt Theodoros Vasilikos performed a short concert of Byzantine.
