The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

CONSIDERED approval of the Address of the Holy Synod of the UOC to the Archpastors, pastors, monkhood and all the faithful children of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the occasion of the arrival to Ukraine of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia (July 27 – August 5, 2009).

RESOLVED: to adopt the Address

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the information of His Beatitude Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine as for celebration of the 450th anniversary of Bringing to Volyn of the icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv.

RESOLVED:
1. To take the information into account.

2. To bless holding of the All-Ukraine sacred procession with the Wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv through the cathedral cities of Ukraine, visiting the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.

HEARD the information of the Administrator of the UOC, His Eminence Metrophanes, Archbishop of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav on establishment of the Synodal Department of the UOC for Family Matters.
RESOLVED:
1. To bless the establishment of the Synodal Department for Family Matters;

2. To appoint chairman of the Synodal Department for Family Matters His Grace Panteleimon, bishop of Vasylkiv, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the information of the Administrator of the UOC, His Eminence Metrophanes, Archbishop of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav on establishment of the Synodal Department of the UOC for the Matters of Pastoral Care of Penitentiary System.

RESOLVED:
1. To bless the establishment of the Synodal Department of the UOC for the Matters of Pastoral Care of Penitentiary System;

2. To appoint chairman of the Synodal Department of the UOC for the Matters of Pastoral Care of Penitentiary System clergyman of the Diocese of Kyiv priest Victor Yatsenko.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

CONSIDERED the issue of further activities of the Theological Canonical Commission to the Holy Synod of the UOC.

RESOLVED:
1. To dismiss His Grace Evlogy, Bishop of Sumy and Okhturka, from the office of Cahirman of the Theological Canonical Commission to the Holy Synod of the UOC, having expressed him gratitude for the labors undertaken.

2. To appoint Chairman of the Theological Canonical Commission to the Holy Synod of the UOC His Eminence Anthony, Archbishop of Boryspil, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis, Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Head of the Education Committee to the Holy Synod of the UOC.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the information of His Beatitude Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, rector of the Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv on the dismissal of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol from the office of the responsible to the Holy Synod for the course of works on the construction of the Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ and on appointment to this office of His Eminence Sophrony, Metropolitan of Kaniv and Cherkasy.

RESOLVED:
1. To dismiss of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol from the office of the responsible to the Holy Synod for the course of works on the construction of the Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv;

2. To appoint His Eminence Sophrony, Metropolitan of Kaniv and Cherkasy to the office of the responsible to the Holy Synod for the course of works on the construction of the Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv .

HEARD the information of the Administrator of the UOC, His Eminence Metrophanes, Archbishop of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav on renaming of the Synodal Department of the UOC “Mission of Religious Education” into the Department of Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

RESOLVED: to bless renaming of the Synodal Department of the UOC “Mission of Religious Education” into the Department of Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the information of His Beatitude Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine on appointment to the office of Superior of the Tithes Monastery of Nativity of Theotokos archimandrite Hedeon (Kharon).

RESOLVED: to appoint archimandrite Hedeon (Kharon) to the office of Superior of the Tithes Monastery of Nativity of Theotokos in Kyiv.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the report of His Grace Mark, Archbishop of Khust and Vynohradiv on appointment of archimandrite Adrian (Maleta) to the office of Superior of the (men’s) Monastery in the village of Iza-Karputlash, Khust district of the Transcarpathians region.

RESOLVED: to appoint archimandrite Adrian (Maleta) to the office of Superior of the (men’s) Monastery in the village of Iza-Karputlash, Khust district of the Transcarpathians region

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the report of His Eminence Gurias, Archbishop of Zhytomyr and Novohrad-Volynskyi, on the appointment of the nun of the Holy Trinity Korets Convent sister Mykhayila (Farkovets) to the office of Superior of the Convent of St. Anastasia the Roman in Zhytomyr.

RESOLVED: to turn to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with request to order the nun of the Holy Trinity Korets Convent sister Mykhayila (Farkovets) under command of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr for her further appointment ato the office of Superior of the Convent of St. Anastasia the Roman in Zhytomyr.

HEARD the information of His Beatitude Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the opening of St. Michael the Archangel Zvirynets Monastery and on the appointment to the office of its superior archimandrite Kassian (Shostak).

RESOLVED:
1. To bless opening of St. Michael the Archangel Zvirynets Monastery in Kyiv;
2. To appoint archimandrite Kassian (Shostak)to the office of superior of St. Michael the Archangel Zvirynets Monastery in Kyiv.

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the report of His Eminence Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavriysk, chairman of the Commission for Canonization of the Saints of the UOC on glorification among the ranks of the locally venerated saints of the Diocese of Kyiv of the ascetic of piety nun Elena (Bakhteeva) (+March 23/ April 5, 1834).

Having considered the life, labors, feats and miracles, and taking into account the people’s veneration of the ascetic of piety nun Helena (Bakhteeva) –

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local glorification and veneration of nun Helena (Bakhteeva).
2. To approve icon image of the saint.
3. To approve the presented drafts of troparion and kontakion to the holy venerable Elena.
4. To consider the remains of the holy venerable Helena to be the holy relics.
5. To commemorate the holy venerable Helena on March 23 / April 5.
6. To raise thanksgiving prayers to the Lord, wonderful in His saints, who revealed a new woman of prayer for our Holy Church and our people.


JOURNAL NO.39

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the report of His Eminence Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavriysk, chairman of the Commission for Canonization of the Saints of the UOC on glorification among the ranks of the locally venerated saints of the Diocese of Cherksay of the ascetic of piety hegumeness Rafaela (Tertatska) (+24. 08. 1926).

Having considered the life, labors, feats and miracles, and taking into account the people’s veneration of the ascetic of piety hegumeness Rafaela (Tertatska) –

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local glorification and veneration of hegumeness Rafaela (Tertatska).
2. To approve icon image of the venerable martyr.
3. To approve the presented drafts of troparion and kontakion to the venerable martyr Rafaela.
4. To consider the remains of the venerable martyr Rafaela to be the holy relics.
5. To commemorate of the venerable martyr Rafaela of Chyhyryn on August 11/24.
6. To raise thanksgiving prayers to the Lord, wonderful in His saints, who revealed a new woman of prayer for our Holy Church and our people.


JOURNAL NO.40

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

CONSIDERED the state of affairs in the Diocese of Dzhankoi.

RESOLVED:
1. To dismiss His Grace Nectary, Bishop of Rozdolnensk and Dzhankoi from administration of the Diocese of Dzhankoi and to appoint him Bishop of Dubny, Vicar of the Diocese of Rivne;

2. To entrust administration of the Diocese of Dzhankoi to His Eminence Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavriysk.

To issue respective orders whereat.

JOURNAL NO.41

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

HEARD the report of His Eminence Anatoly, Archbishop of Sarny and Polissya on deacon-monk Innokenty (Kashper), clergyman of the Diocese of Sarny, suspended in service,.

Proceeding from the given report, canons of the Holy Apostles 18, 25; New-Caesarea Council 1, St. Basil the Great 70 –

RESOLVED: to approve suspension from service of the clergyman of the Diocese of Sarny deacon-monk Innokenty (Kashper).

The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine –

CONSIDERED the convocation of bishops for participation in the autumn-winter session of the Holy Synod of the UOC of 2009-2010.

RESOLVED: to call the following bishops for participation in the autumn-winter session of the Holy Synod of the UOC of 2009-2010:
1. His Eminence Serhyi, Archbishop of Ternopil and Kremenets;
2. His Eminence Ephraim, Archbishop of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol;
