Relics of Three Saints Given on loan to the Moldovan Orthodox Church

The Armenian Orthodox Church-Mother See

On July 11, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, three relics of Christian saints belonging to the Armenian Church and permanently housed in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, were transported to Moldova in a spirit of ecumenical fraternity. They will be exhibited on loan to the Moldovan Orthodox Church at the request of Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Vladimir of Kishinev and All Moldova.

The relics of Saint John the Baptist, Saint Peter the Apostle and Saint George the Warrior will be on display in the capital city of Chisinau (Kishinev) for the veneration of the Moldovan faithful from July 11 to July 21 in the Cathedral of Christ’s Nativity. Prior to their return to Armenia, the relics will also be displayed to the Armenian faithful at the St. Mary the Mother of God Armenian Church in Chisinau.

Archpriest Victor Pleshka and Archdeacon Ion Novak representing the Moldovan Church traveled to Armenia to accompany the relics and assist in the transport. Rev. Fr. Sahak Shakarian, pastor of the Armenian community in Moldova, and Rev. Fr. Asoghik Karapetian, Director of the Museums of the Mother See, accompanied the relics and the representatives to Chisinau.
