Sayfo Commemoration held in New Jersey

USA: His Holiness participated in a Youth Sayfo Commemoration hosted at Mor Aphrem Center in Paramus, NJ.
The event commenced with an evening prayer lead by His Holiness, remembering our martyred forefathers, followed by a procession around the grounds of Mor Aphrem Center while singing Syriac hymns. At the conclusion of the procession, youth members spoke about why Sayfo is important to them and a documentary on Sayfo was shown in the social hall. At the end of the evening His Holiness gave a passionate sermon on Sayfo by answering questions of “Who? What? Why?” and encourage the spiritual children of the diocese to never forget Sayfo.
The Archdiocesan Youth organization of the Eastern U.S. also plans on hosting multiple Sayfo events and lectures across the diocese during this year to commemorate 100 years since the Syriac genocide.
In attendance was His Eminence Mor Timotheos Mattas Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary and clergy of New Jersey and New York.
