Saint Lazarus Day Celebrated in the Royal City of Krusevac

His Grace Bishop David of Krusevac consecrated the cornerstone of the church of the Holy Prince Lazarus in the Krusevac barracks. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Mrs. Jasmina Palurovic, Director of the BIA Mr. Bratislav Gasic, Minister Mr. Zoran Djordjevic, as well as by quite a number of the Serbian Armed Forces.

On the Eve of the Serbian Saint Lazarus Day, when the church  Lazarica celebrates its founder and protector, the Holy Great Martyr Prince Lazarus, a solemn Vigil was served, after which the feast loaf was broken on the occasion of the slava of the choir of Saint Prince Lazar. The vigil, which was served by His Grace Bishop David of Krusevac and the clergy of the Diocese of Krusevac, was attended by faithful people and the clergy of the city of Krusevac.

After the divine worship, led by the relics of the Holy Prince Lazar, the cross procession went to the central city square and the Monument to the heroes of Kosovo, where a memorial service was held for the  Martyrs of Kosovo. The cross procession proceeded to the military barracks, where the ceremony of laying the cornerstone for a  new church of the Holy Prince Lazarus, which is also the protector of the barracks in Krusevac, was held. This event was attended by Mayor Mrs. Jasmina Palurovic, the Director of the BIA Mr. Bratislav Gasic, Minister of Labour in the Government of Serbia Mr. Zoran Djordjevic, as well as by numerous members of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The celebration of Saint Lazarus Day in Krusevac was enriched by the unveiling of the monument to the Holy Despot Stefan the High on the Kosturnica Square, while the mast with the Serbian flag was placed on the hill of Bagdala.

Festal Saint Lazarus Day awards were presented to important organizations and prominent individuals in the building of the Municipality of the Sity of Krusevac on the same evening.
