Rus Baptism celebrated across Russia, Ukraine and Belarus

Russia, Ukraine and Belarus celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Rus baptism on July 28. The celebrations started in Moscow with a festive service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, where thousands of pilgrims came to touch the Cross of St Andrew. VoR’s Dasha Chernyshova explains its importance.
The celebrations will move – including the Cross – from the Russian capital to Kiev and then to Minsk. Religion has had an important role in Russia’s history.
