Publications on the Holy Church Fathers and the 2017 Calendar
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – 20/11/16
The Publishing Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has released the first volume of the book “The Lives and Behavior of the Holy Church Fathers.”
The section “Thoughts and Histories of the Fathers” within the “Biographies of the Holy Church Fathers and their Acts” (Venice, 1855), was newly translated into Armenian. The translation was done by Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Publishing Department of the Mother See; Ms. Siranush (Nana) Grigoryan and Mr. Vagharshak Tangamyan.
The desert monasticism summarized in the 19 chapters is a specific thematic guide for all those who are eager to learn about the spiritual experiences of the desert fathers.
Division of the corresponding paragraphs were made in each chapter, to facilitate the reading. Both the first and the second translation originals were translated, as well as the “remnant” of the second translation as “Preserved parts of the second translation”. The main purpose of the translators was to make to all sections of the book accessable to the reader, which had been originally in classical Armenian.
The book was published under the patronage of the Sarkis Gabrielian Foundation.
The Publishing Department has also published the 2017 desk calendar. Along with monthly and daily pages, the calendar gives information on the Feasts, and Commemoration Days of the Saints.
