Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: Her Imperial Highness Princess Sara Gizaw, Dowager Duchess of Harrar was laid to rest at Addis Ababa’s Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Her funeral was presided by His Holiness Abune Mathias I, Patriarch of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Echege of the See of St. Tekle Haimanot.

Other high hierarchs of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church were also in attendance. Members of the Imperial family, government officials, and many prominent persons attended the rites, EBS television also carried respectful coverage of the event (see link).

Following the service, the remains of the Duchess were lowered into the Imperial crypt under the cathedral and she was entombed next to her husband the late Prince Makonnen Duke of Harrar, and among other members of the Ethiopian Imperial family.

May she Rest In Peace, and may God Console her family.
