Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia Retires

On April 12, 2013, the Moscow Patriarchate received an official communication regarding the session of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia that met that day.

It reports that at that meeting His Beatitude, Christopher, Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, petitioned for dismissal from office. The petition was granted.

His Beatitude has been granted the title of Honorary Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia with his place of residence designated as the Monastery of the Lord’s Transfiguration in Teschow.

Archbishop Simeon of Brno and Olomouc, the senior bishop of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, was chosen as Locum Tenens of the Primatial Throne.
