Patriarch of Romania at the Cathedral with Moon in Oradea City
On 18 September, 11.00 o’clock a.m., hundreds of faithful met the Patriarch of Romania at the old Cathedral with Moon, in the centre of Oradea city. His Grace, Bishop Siluan of Salaj, celebrated the Te Deum service assisted by a group of priests and deacons. Further on, speeches were delivered on the occasion of the anniversary of 90 years since the r-establishment of the Diocese of Oradea.
On this occasion, His Grace Sofronie, Bishop of Oradea welcomed the Patriarch of Romania in the “historical cathedral of Oradea, in the Cathedral with Moon” and underlined the fact that the “Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Oradea dresses festive vestments these days”.
After the welcome speech of His Grace Sofronie, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked for the warm reception and for the atmosphere of prayer, pointing out the importance of the increased missionary work in this part of the world: “We have come here to thank God for the good things bestowed over this Eparchy in the course of time and especially since its re-establishment in 1920; to commemorate those who were its worthy servants and to pray for the help of God to continue the activity bequeathed to us and to increase, at the same time, the missionary pastoral work in this part of the country.”
His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, emphasized, in his speech, the importance of the Te Deum showing that this thanksgiving service has a special significance for the Romanian people.
On this occasion, His Beatitude offered the Cathedral with Moon a blessing cross, the big size Bible, edited by the Holy Synod in 2008, a book in which the Orthodox Creed is explained, another book about Saint Pious Dionisios Exiguous – Father of the Christian Era, the book “The Work of the Church in Society”, as well as the latest issue of “Vestitorul Ortodoxiei” magazine. He also offered small crosses to all the children present, and to the faithful as well.
