Patriarch of Alexandria at Romanian Patriarchate

On 26 October 2011, His Beatitude Teodor II, Pope of Alexandria and All Africa arrived in Bucharest.

The official reception by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, of the delegation of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa led by His Beatitude Teodor II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, took place at 12.00 hours, on the scene specially arranged close to the Patriarchal Cathedral. On this occasion, a Te Deum was celebrated.

To end with the Te Deum, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Daniel, addressed a welcome speech to His Beatitude Teodor II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.

At the same time, the Patriarch of Romania urged the faithful, in his speech, to pray for peace in the Middle East and for strengthening the unity of our Church: “We pray God together these days, for our countries and for all the Christians persecuted in various parts of the world, especially in the Middle East. We pray God to strengthen our Church and to help us accomplish the mission that Jesus Christ, our Lord, entrusts us through Saint Mark the Apostle, who is the founder of the Church of Alexandria, and through Saint Andrew the Apostle, who is the Apostle of the Romanians.”

The Patriarch of Alexandria has also thanked the Patriarch of Romania for the special reception and for the love and care, in the spirit of the brotherly love.

“We wish you, Your Beatitude, honourable brother in Christ, long life and to serve the righteous people, for the glory of God. Besides, we also think that Your Beatitude will pray for our ancient Patriarchate. Your Beatitude’s prayers constitute a dear and very precious gift for us! Thank you very much the cordial reception you make us and for your love and care in the spirit of brotherly love, but mostly for the nice words addressed to us and to the accompanying delegation, which are the expression of Your Beatitude’s spiritual nobleness”, said His Beatitude Teodor II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
