Patriarch Kirill Of Moscow Arrives In Ukraine On Pastoral Visit

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus has arrived in Ukraine on a pastoral visit.
Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Tikhonov and the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, welcomed Patriarch Kirill at the Odesa airport.
Patriarch Kirill’s pastoral visit is from July 20 to 28.
He will begin his visit in Odesa and then travel to Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv.
On Wednesday, July 21, Patriarch Kirill will visit the Saint Uspenskyi Cathedral and the Saint Uspenskyi Monastery in Odesa.
He will consecrate the Spaso-Preobrazhenskyi Cathedral in Odesa, hold a service there, and later travel to the Zhemchuzhynka orphanage.
On July 22, Patriarch Kirill is scheduled to visit the Odesa National Law Academy and meet with members of the public at the Odesa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
He is not scheduled to participate in any event on July 23.
On July 24, he will arrive in Dnipropetrovsk, where he will visit the Saint Troitskyi Cathedral and meet with the diocese’s clergy before traveling to the Sevastopolskyi Park and later to the Pivdennyi engineering plant, where he will consecrate the Resurrection of Christ Church that is under construction.
In the evening on July 24, Patriarch Kirill will meet with the teaching staff at Dnipropetrovsk’s Honchar National University.
On July 25, he will hold a service at the Dnipropetrovsk Spaso-Preobrazhenskyi Cathedral, lay a wreath at the Glory Memorial, and visit the Mechnykov regional hospital.
On the same day, he will travel to Kyiv, where he will visit the Sofiivskyi Cathedral and the Kyiv Pecherska Cathedral.
On July 26, Patriarch Kirill will attend a meeting of the synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
On July 27, he will hold a ceremonial thanksgiving service at the Volodymyrska Horka and visit the Ioninskyi monastery and the Kyiv Pecherska Cathedral.
On July 28, Patriarch Kirill will hold a service at the Kyiv Pecherska Cathedral and depart for Moscow.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate considers Patriarch Kirill’s visit to Ukraine as a political visit.
