Patriarch John X: Syria will remain country of tolerance and amity

Damascus, (SANA) –Patriarch John X Yazigi of Antioch and all East for Greek Orthodox stressed that Syria will remain the country of tolerance, amity and co-existence.

Meeting the Russian popular and civil delegation currently visiting Syria, Yazigi pointed out that the attempts of using religion to create strife among the Syrian society’s spectrums will not succeed.

The Patriarch affirmed the depth of historic relations between Russian and Syrian people, hailing the stances of Russian government and people in supporting Syria, particularly the aid offered by Russia to the Syrian families affected by the crisis.

For their part, the delegation members voiced their wishes for security and stability to Syria and releasing all abducted people, especially the two abducted bishops, stressing that Syrian people will come out victorious from this war.

Patriarch Yazigi underscored the role of women in the Syrian society, indicating that many countries who claim to be upholding freedom and democracy in Syria lack such experience in their own societies.

Majida Qutait, head of the General Women’s Union said the Syrian people embody amity and tolerance among all spectrums of society, affirming that Syria is capable of achieving victory thanks to its people’s steadfastness and the support of friends, especially Russia.

The delegation listened to an account about the history of the Mariamite Cathedral of Damascus which was built during the 2nd century AD. It was destroyed by the Ottomans in 1860 AD and rebuilt in 1867 AD.

Russian delegation visits wounded army personnel in Martyr Yusuf al-Azmah hospital

In appreciation of their sacrifices in defending their homeland, Russian popular and civil delegation currently visiting Syria paid a visit to the wounded army personnel in Martyr Yusuf al-Azmah hospital in Damascus.

The delegation members appreciated the sacrifices of the Syrian army’ personnel in defending their country’s dignity and unity, affirming their support to the Syrian people against terrorism targeting them by the armed terrorist groups.

The delegation members stressed their readiness to offer help for the wounded to recover.

For their part, the wounded personnel stressed their readiness to sacrifice their souls for defending Syria , pointing out that Syria will come out victorious over terrorism very soon.
