Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II visits displaced Christians in Kurdistan- Iraq

Erbil- Kurdistan- Iraq: His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited displaced families living in tents and caravans in Ankawa – Kurdistan, Iraq on December 31st, 2014.

The Patriarch celebrated the New Year Eve in the Lady of Light Church in Ankawa. His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf said: “His Holiness is the crown of the Syriac people; he makes us all proud”.

Patriarch  Aphrem II also paid a pastoral visit to Mor Zakay Church in Mergue in Northeast Mosul. He was welcomed by the community at the entrance of the town and he prayed for peace in the Middle East. He said that “we are advocates of peace and shall remain firmly attached to our faith and homeland”.
