DAMASCUS, (SANA)-Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Greek Orthodox Ignatius IV Hazim said that the foreign sides which claim that Christians in Syria are oppressed are rejected, adding “Christians in Syria live in peace, but they only fear the international calls for protecting them.”

Hazim, during a speech to the Syrian TV broadcast Monday, rejected voices which call for a foreign intervention, asserting the national unity and supporting the reform program led by President Bashar al-Assad.
He underlined that the Syrian people fight all that could turn them to strangers, adding that coexistence is not a new thing, but it is part of their history.

“Whenever I meet foreign delegations, I tell them that what is going on in Syria is an odd event that might happen in any country and that visitors of Syria have to see and inspect the real events here,” Patriarch Hazim said.
