Patriarch Filaret of Kiev Calls for dialogue with Russian Orthodox Church

Moscow-Russia: The Primate of the unrecognized Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kiev Patriarchate) –UOC -KP calls for dialogue with Russian Orthodox Church. Patriarch Filaret sends a letter to Patriarch Kirill and the Russian Orthodox Bishops Council.

Russian Orthodox news channels reported that Filaret requested forgiveness from the Russian Orthodox Church. The UOC-KP channels reported that Filaret did not request nor repent, rather the Primate asked Patriarch Kirill and Russian Bishops council to seek all possibilities for reconciliation and dialogue. UOC KP official portal also reported that the purpose of the dialogue is not aimed at administrative submission or unity with the Moscow Patriarchate.

It was reported that the Bishops Council of Russian Orthodox Church has installed a commission for dialogue under the leadership of Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk – Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations.

The UOC-KP in their next session will study and consider the willingness of Moscow Patriarchate to resume dialogue.
