Communiqué adopted at the results of the meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness Patriarch and Catholicos Abune Mathias I of Ethiopia

Moscow- Russia: His Holiness Abune Mathias – (Sixth Patriarch and Catholicos of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Ichege of the See of Saint Taklehaimanot) was received by His Holiness Kirill Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia on 17/5/18. Patriarch Abune Mathias and the Ethiopian delegation is on 7-day visit to Russia

Patriarch Abune Mathias of Ethiopia Arrives in Moscow

The Ethiopian Orthodox delegation consist of Archbishop of West Harerge Diocese, Abune Philipos, Bishop of South Omo Diocese, Abune Aregawi, Bishop of South Gonder Diocese, Melake Genet Abba Kidane Mariam, personal assistant to His Holiness Abune Mathias I, Melake Selam Abba Kiross Weldeab, head of the Media Service, and Musie Hailu, head of the Service of the Patriarchal Protocol.

Patriarch Abune Mathias also gave a talk at the Postgraduate Institute of the Moscow Patriarchate. The visit of the Ethiopian Orthodox Primate is part of developing bilateral relations between Moscow and Ethiopia Patriarchates. A Bilateral Commission for Dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ethiopian Church will be set up in near future.
