Orthodox Christians in Myanmar Safe Amid Military Coup

Yangon -Myanmar- The Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Christians of Rangoon are safe amid the take over of the Country by the Military. Sources close to the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. John the Baptist in  Yangon stated that the Orthodox faithful are safe and secure.

Military Myanmar seized power on the first of February, 2021,  and detained Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically elected leaders.

In May 2017, a historic meeting took place between Aung San Suu Kyi, and the Very Reverend Father Zaven Yazichyan, the Pastor of the Armenian Spiritual Pastorates in Myanmar, Singapore and Bangladesh.
