Budapest- Hungary: Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev  of Volokolamsk, the Chairman of the Extern Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate commented that Eastern Orthodox and Catholics are united in belief in Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist.

According to the Metropolitan “the Catholics and the Orthodox are not united in the Eucharist, but they are united in the conviction that in the Eucharistic bread and wine after their consecration we have not just the symbolic presence of Christ, but his full and real presence,” reported Catholic News Agency. The Prelate was speaking at the opening of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress on the 5th of September 2021 in Budapest, Hungary.
