Opening of the academic year at the Faculty of Theology of Bucharest

On 7 October 2013, the students of “Patriarch Justinian” Orthodox Faculty of Theology of Bucharest attended the opening celebration of the academic year.

The event began in the morning with the participation of the students and of the members of the teaching staff at the Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Spiridon the New of Bucharest.

There followed a Te Deum and then the message of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel to the opening festivity of the new academic.

After the religious time, the leadership of the Faculty of Theology met the students in the first year of study in the amphitheatre of Rev Acad. Dumitru Staniloae.

“We begin the academic year through the prayers that we brought here from the Holy Church, as well as under the great impression of the International Theological Congress dedicated to Rev Theology Professor Dumitru Staniloae. All the theology that we receive and hope the students to receive it too, is so rich that it obligates us to convey it to the students and we shall always to that, especially during this year which is just beginning.

We have 300 students in the first year of study for all branches of study. We receive them with much joy and have much hope in them”, Father Stefan Buchiu, dean of the “Patriarch Justinian” Faculty of Theology of Bucharest told the students.

Members of the teaching staff from other faculties, delegates on behalf of the leadership of the University of Bucharest, parents and students attended the event.
