OFFICIAL CANCELLATION OF POSTCARD DEPICTING ORTHODOX CHURCH IN THE CAPITAL OF DPRK TAKES PLACE IN MOSCOW

On 15 August 2015, a ceremony of the official cancellation of a postcard depicting the Moscow Patriarchate’s Church of the Holy Trinity in Pyongyang took place at the “Rossica” Philatelic Academic Club. The event was timed to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese invaders during World War II.

Taking part in the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Kim Hyun Joon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation, and representatives of the National Academy of Philately and the Federal Agency of Communications (Rossvyaz). Rev. Vladimir Alexandrov, a staff member of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, represented the Russian Orthodox Church.

After the ceremony of the cancellation of the postcard, the Ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the DECR representative warmly greeted all those present. Rev. Vladimir Alexandrov noted that cooperation between the National Academy of Philately and the Russian Orthodox Church would continue to develop.
