Global: George Alexander (OCP Sectary and Spokesperson) on behalf of the OCP Secretariat, stated that the dialogue & meeting between Patriarch and Catholicos is the need of the hour. The statement was made during his conversation with some of the high-level prelates of Malankara. He urged everyone to support the meeting in what so ever form it would be.

There are a lot of speculations going on the possibility of a meeting between the Primates of the Syriac and Indian Orthodox Churches in the USA in the month of September 2014.

Secretary urged to shun individual power politics that has ruined the relations between the two churches in past and the same that is ruing it at present. He slammed the shrewd politics of certain parties in both churches, who are totally against any sort of dialogue for conciliar unity. Many people do not have an idea about the concept of Orthodox Concilliar unity; hence they are scared of dialogue and action for unity as they feel insecure about losing position and influence in their own jurisdiction.

Everyone has an equal responsibility to support the meeting and dialogue for peace. George also stated that the meeting between the two Hierarchs of ancient Oriental Orthodox family is not aimed at any sort of amalgamation of churches. However a brotherly get together and dialogue between the Primates is what matters, he added.
