OCP Executive Council request IMOC to withdraw from Orthodox – Roman Catholic Dialogue

Indian/Global: The Secretary of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society, George Alexander on behalf of the Executive Council made an official request to Catholicos Baselius Marthoma Paulouse II Primate of the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church, the Holy Episcopal Synod members, to withdraw from the Oriental Orthodox – Roman Catholic dialogue as well as from the Malankara Orthodox- Roman Catholic dialogue. The request is in protest to the unchristian and unethical attitude of the Primate of the Malankara Catholic Rite Major Archbishop and Cardinal Baselius Cleemis Thottunkal where he has stolen the titles like Catholicos, Successor of St Thomas and Malankara Metropolitan. The official letter clearly states the ecumenical violations made by the Malanakra Catholic Rite and her Primate. The letter urges the Indian Church to withdraw from all dialogues unless a proper response and lasting solution is delivered from the  Roman Catholic Church.

Petition filed to Oriental Orthodox Churches

Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Executive council has also filed petitions on the unacceptable actions of Malankara Catholic Rite to Oriental Orthodox Churches and to delegations of the Oriental Orthodox-Roman Catholic dialogue. OCP Secretary has clearly stated that the action of Malankara Catholic Rite has challenged not only the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church, but also the respective churches of the holy and ancient Oriental Orthodox communion. It is a complete violation of ecumenical respect and Christian ethics.

He also added OCP completely respect the titles granted by Roman Catholic Church such as Major Archbishop and Cardinal and we refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of the Roman Catholic Church.

OCP has taken up this issue several time and has reported the same various official forums, meetings and conference since 2007.
