SS Cosmas & Damian

BROOKLINE, MA [OCAMPR] – September 2014

The Executive Board of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion [OCAMPR] recently announced that its Annual Conference will be held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology here Thursday through Saturday, November 6 – 8, 2014.

His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America will be the keynote speaker.

The conference theme—“Exploring the Mind-Body-Soul Connection: Spirituality in Illness and Healing”—will be developed through an extensive program of presentations by numerous distinguished speakers. The gathering will provide a unique opportunity for Orthodox clergy, theologians, and healthcare professionals to come together to discuss how the Orthodox healing traditions interface with contemporary theories and practices of care.

Abstracts for 20 minute paper presentations and case studies on topics related to Orthodoxy and healing may be submitted by September 15 to Michael Christakis at kphth9@mac.com . Submittals traditionally include current work on theories and practices of Orthodox care by clergy, physicians, mental health professionals and other healthcare workers.

Registration fees, which include all meals except dinner on Friday, November 7 [an additional $25.00, although clergy are complimentary], are $50.00 for professional members/non-members and $25.00 for students and clergy.

Additional information may be found on OCAMPR’s web site.
