Norway to Stop the Distribution of Bible and Other Religious Books at Schools
OCP News Service – 5/9/21
Norway: The Norwegian Directorate Education stated that the distribution of Bible or other religious text at schools do not align with the Education Act. The Directorate has asked municipalities to refrain from any such practice, reports Sputnik News. The new change is in response to the request from the Norwegian Humanist Association to avoid social pressure.
Christianity used to be taught at Norwegian schools. However, with the changing society, in recent times other religions and secularism is being taught on an equal basis. More than 15000 copies of the Bible get distributed each year in Norwegian schools.
